Hunt’s men return from training in Chicago, and he sends his recruit, Brian, there as well. When a stagecoach carrying payroll is robbed during a water stop in Utah, the marshals begin a long search that ends in a gun battle. Beth’s pregnancy develops complications, and she fears she may lose the baby. Hunt worries that his devotion to the job is partly to blame. Needing rest and time together, Hunt takes Beth to Hidden Valley. Later, he sends his men to Canon City to investigate murder and claim-jumping. Arrests quickly piled up, including several prominent citizens. Clayton is left in charge of the office, but when disaster strikes, he rides to Hidden Valley to ask Hunt for help.
