Finally, Charles travels to his father’s homeland and learns of his inheritance. Charles encounters numerous problems, replaces the General Manager at the wine distillery, sets about making the necessary changes and improvements, and looks for land to start a vineyard. Charles aids the local police by tracking down bandits and assisting them during a shootout with bank robbers. Charles makes several friends and develops a reputation that ultimately makes him very popular. Charles ventures out of town to purchase horses and is shocked when he encounters a man that he once wanted to kill, Captain Bernard Pennington, the man who at one time had enslaved him and was going to sell him at the Boston slave market. As Charles and the family travel back to America, their ship is attacked by 3 Spanish warships that are determined to capture the ship and kill all on board.
