Hunt’s men travel to the gold fields of Colorado to resolve a murder and recover the stolen gold, which is bankrupting the gold mining company. Beth visits an orphanage and finds a young girl whom she finds adorable. She talks to Hunt about adopting her. Hunt and Beth visit the orphanage and discover it is run from a small cabin. Hunt leaves, determined to help the orphanage. Earl arrives from Chicago to discuss the new laws passed by the Washington senators. Hunt and Earl travel to Topeka searching for his missing man, Kelly Morrison, and is surprised at what he discovers. Hunt hires mountain men to hunt for a cougar attacking livestock on the Percheron ranch. The cougar turns out to be craftier than most of the hunters. After cougar kills one man and puts three in the hospital, Hunt decides to go after it himself and ends up on the blunt end of an attack.
