The railroad wants to start in California and travel east to Raleigh, North Carolina. The change of plans has people upset because they had planned to build saloons, food stores, and general merchandise stores in California. They don’t want to wait for two years for the train track to reach their destination. Charles’s Sioux friends come to ask Charles for cattle to feed their tribe and are arrested by the Cavalry and are threatened with hanging for murder.
